Our Cancer Baby

Sunday, August 9, 2009

So Dave and I are starting to notice patterns in Padma's personality. She seems to truly fit her astrological sign. She is very emotional and needs constant affection and attention. She really hates to be put down. She loves making eye contact and will stare into our eyes when we talk to her and when I nurse her. I thought I would post a description of the Cancer baby so you guys could get a better idea of who this sweet little lady is becoming. I also posted a few new photos for your viewing pleasure! :)

As a Water sign, the Cancer baby is likely to be more emotional than most. In a word: tears! This baby will probably cry a fair bit, so holding and touching are of paramount importance -- really anything to achieve comfort. Along these lines, this is a baby who needs to feel secure and will easily pick up any bad vibes in the household. Therefore, arguing in the presence of this child should be kept to a minimum. Family is very important to the Cancer baby, as is nurturing. As Cancer is the sign of the Mother, the elements of nurturing, family, and mood swings (think sensitivity and emotions) are highlighted. Also, because Cancer is the sign of Memory, the Cancer baby will retain memories from the past, both good and bad. This is a child who could get lost in the supermarket for two minutes and forever remember it as a sign of rejection from the mother! For this reason and others, this tot needs to be made to feel secure, especially within the family unit (family will always be more important to the Cancer baby than friends). The somewhat reticent Cancer baby will nonetheless surprise Mom and Dad by being fussy about food, so be sure to please that palate! To sum up, the Cancer baby is familial, must feel protected, and with any kind of luck, will learn to swim like a fish!

Some New Pictures

Padma is doing really well. She's been a bit fussy for the last few days but we are hopeful it's because she's about to realize a new skill... :) We'll see. She definitely likes to snuggle and doesn't like to be put down. Which is mostly okay, except when I want to shower, eat, clean the house, or do anything that requires putting her down. Anyway, follow the link below to see the most recent pictures. They were added to an existing file so just follow the pictures to the right to see the new ones.

Padma's Birth Announcement Photo Shoot

Saturday, July 25, 2009

I took a bunch of pictures for Padma's birth announcement and posted them on Flickr. They are super cute and I can't wait to get her announcement out to everyone. She is SO beautiful! The picture I am posting is a little blurry, which is sad because I kinda love it... Oh well.

Even More Pictures...

So Dave and I have been going crazy taking pictures of our sweet little Panda Bear (yeah - she's already been nicknamed). She's so beautiful and it's hard to resist capturing everything she does on film. We still haven't gotten a video camera so our digital cameras are being heavily employed. Today, I think Dave and I finally decided that she's a redhead. It was hard to tell and we didn't want to commit until we were sure, but her hair really seems to be strawberry blonde. Dave took the pictures below. We want to have these three printed and framed for the dining room. The rest of the shots can be seen by following the link below. Enjoy!

How cute is she!?!?

Padma is doing so well. She is nursing really well and is almost back to her birth weight already. The doctor said that she should be back to her original weight by two weeks and she's only 4oz away at only a week old! YAY! Mama's boobies are doing their job! She is so beautiful and sleepy and Dave and I are having so much fun watching her every move. I am so sad to have Dave go back to work after next week. Dave and I are so enjoying the extra time together and also just having this time to get to know our new baby girl. Dave has been dreading the day he has to leave Padma since the moment she was born. We have 11 days left of paternity leave and we'll try to focus on the now and not be too sad about the day he goes back. Stupid work! Stupid bills!

Padma is finally here!!

Sunday, July 19, 2009

Padma arrived at 12:46 p.m. on July 16th, exactly 15 days past due! She weighed in at 8lbs, 2oz and was perfectly healthy and beautiful from the start! We came home on Friday evening and have been in heaven. Dave and I marvel at our new daughter almost every waking moment. We talk of nothing but Padma and do little but watch her every move and facial expression. I cannot put into words how much her arrival has meant to us. We are weepy and giggly and just completely in love. Follow the link below to view pictures of our new, gorgeous baby girl!
