First off, I'd like to recommend to anyone going through this to buy one of these fetal heart monitors. Hearing it in the doctor's office one every couple months is nice, but getting to hear it almost anytime you like is awesome. I also think it probably helps earlier bonding for the non-pregnant participant. It really lets the reality factor take hold.

Just a moment ago, we were listening in and chasing around Padma around. Suddenly Amy realized that we were also hearing her kicks in addition to the heartbeat. It sounded mostly like she was kicking the monitor and making it warble. She did it a few times with Amy then I held the "mic". She gave a strong jab and actually made the mic bounce! Insane.

22 Weeks

There is not much to report right now. I've done a little more shopping and we got the Fetal Doppler Monitor so we are going to figure out a way to post the sound of Padma's heartbeat on here this weekend. The monitor works SO well. We found it on Amazon.com and it was like a hundred bucks. Not bad for constant fetal communication... :) I am also excited because my sister is throwing an amazing baby shower for me - she is quite the little party planner. Too bad for her that she got stuck with me planning her shower. I was certainly not as creative as she is. I am also getting a second "Upstate New York" shower so I feel very lucky and loved! I will be sure to post pictures of both events after they occur. This week Padma weighs 1lb(!!!) and measures in at around 11 inches! She's a wiggle worm already and is bouncing around my belly like it was a dance club. Here is a picture of my 22 week pregnant belly.

21 weeks and counting!

I am finally past the halfway point and am SO happy for it. Pregnancy seems to be the longest waiting game there is but I suppose Dave and I aren't ready to be through the wait just yet anyway. We've done some fun stuff since finding out that we are having a girl. We've chosen a name, Padma Maya, and we've registered at Babies r' Us - which was really exciting because we got to walk around with a little gun so we could point and shoot at all the cute stuff we wanted. I've been feeling Padma wiggle, squirm, and kick in my stomach for about a month now, but yesterday morning Dave felt her kick for the first time. He was so thrilled to finally be able to experience some REAL signs of life - other than my burgeoning belly. We ordered a Fetal Doppler Monitor online and are anxiously awaiting it's arrival. We plan on starting every day with a quick listen of Padma's heartbeat. Finally, the most fun thing I've done so far is SHOP! I've purchased some really cute clothes and Padma's first shoes, and a starter kit of the diapers we plan to use. They are called Little G Diapers and they are semi cloth/ semi disposable. The good news is that the cloth part stays on all day - so no huge pile of stinky diapers to wash everyday - and the disposable part can be flushed, composted, or thrown in the garbage. If the latter option is chosen, the diaper is completely biodegradable and will be completely gone in 50-150 days! Follow this link if you'd like to see how they work - http://www.gdiapers.com/. Here is a picture of my belly at 21 weeks.

Baby Bump!!

My belly is growing everyday! I can see a difference every morning it seems. My favorite part of the day is waking up in the morning with Dave to see how different my tummy looks. We spend the first 10 minutes rubbing my belly and talking to Padma (yeah - she has a name now!) It all feels so real now and is all the more exciting for it's "realness." The first image is me at 17 weeks, the second at 17.5 weeks, and the third is me halfway through at 20 weeks. Enjoy!
